We’re just a tad behind on our blogging, but we’re finally getting to this awesome session with Tenley and Kierin at Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve in Edisto Island, SC last fall!

You all know we’re all about making our couples session unique or more of a date night vibe rather than just photos. Plus, this was our first time having a session at Botany Bay, so we definitely had to make it memorable.

Lauren grabbed a pizza and some classic root beer and headed out to meet with Tenley and Kierin and just hang out at the beach for a couple of hours. And before you ask, yes it was a pineapple pizza!

Lauren shot this session solo and was a little worried on the drive out to Edisto Island. Of course there was beautiful weather all day long and then as soon as the session time approached, some dark clouds and rain spurts popped up out of nowhere. Luckily, the sky cleared and the rain stopped just as we both pulled in to the sandy parking lot to make our way down to the beach.

Let us just say, Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve is one of the most beautiful places in the Charleston area. It’s one of our favorites for sure. Not only is there a dirt road with a canopy of trees that leads out to the beach that is absolutely perfect, but the grassy wetland walking path that finally opens to the beach is absolutely gorgeous, especially at sunset, when everything just feels warm and golden.

Then you get to the beach, and this Preserve shines in all its raw beauty. All along the beach are oak trees and just quiet, untouched beach.

Tenley and Kierin are not just a couple we did photos for, but are our friends that we met through the Air Force. Tenley is also a photojournalist and she and Lauren have known each other since all the way back to Basic Training. It was super easy to just keep the session relaxed and low-key, which is what we always aim to do, whether you’re a long-time friend or we’re meeting you for the very first time.

Their personalities absolutely complement each other, and together they are two of the most fun-loving, chill people to be around – which totally shines through in their images.

Lauren absolutely loved hanging out with Tenley & Kierin for this shoot. There’s nothing better than doing a job you love for people you love and who undeniably love each other.
