We recently – and by recently we mean last fall (lol) – had a styled shoot published in Wandering Weddings.

As we were searching for models, we decided to ask our good friend from work, Dana. Dana and her husband, Robby, have been married for a few years now, but had eloped in a courthouse wedding before Dana left for Air Force Basic Military Training without family or friends present. They had never had any photos taken. Dana is a self-proclaimed hippie, and we knew that she and Robby would be the perfect fit for the style we were looking for, and that this experience would be able to provide them with the ceremony and photos that they had never had the chance to have before. The shoot not only became about showcasing local talent, but to provide a ceremony redo for this amazing couple, complete with vows and all.

From the Bride…

“I met Robby on a cold, fall day right after Thanksgiving at the Denver International Airport. We were both moving to work as lift operators for Steamboat Springs Resort in northern Colorado. We bonded over our mutual love of the outdoors, snow and our dream to one day own a beautiful black and rust Doberman. Robby is a native of Jacksonville, Fla., while I am from the Detroit Metro, Mich., area. We lived in Colorado for some time, and since I joined in the Air Force, we have been stationed in Northern California where we are happily still getting outside exploring and living our dreams.”

Here’s the excerpt we shared with Wandering Weddings with a link if you’d like to view the post on their page!

“While the Bohemian style is presently trendy, we wanted to highlight the portions of it that we feel can remain timeless. Items such as the intricate lace of the dress to the backdrop with macrame, peacock chairs and blue goblets really hit on the Boho theme, while we relied on subtle, yet beautiful, details like the rusty orange amaranthus in the bouquet and wicker baskets filled with foliage to tie in the season. The added details from the charcuterie spread, cake and altar setting really helped to tie the shoot together without presenting an overly typical and “in your face” take on theme. We truly believe that simplicity is a major part of the theme and an inspiration point for the brides we’d like to appeal to. Not only do both scenes in the shoot look beautiful and professional, but they prove that any bride can use DIY techniques to piece together a similar look.”
